E.ON Energy – an overview
E.ON Energy is part of the E-ON Group - one of the biggest investor-owned energy companies in the world. The company has a strong ‘green’ policy and is one of the leading developers of wind-farm projects in the UK. They now own 21 wind-farms dotted about the country and are partners in the London Array, which is the largest off-shore wind-farm on the planet. As part of their plan to increase the percentage of energy they derive from renewable sources, they also built one of the biggest dedicated biomass power stations at Lockerbie and they are currently testing the effectiveness of a wave power device off the coast of Orkney.
E.ON supply both gas and electricity and they also supply solar energy panels for your roof, heat pumps and other types of solar technology which can help to reduce your energy bills by generating energy from the power of the sun.
The cheapest dual fuel plan they offer is known as E.ON SaveOnline 8. This is an online only service that is cheaper than the standard E.ON Energy plan as everything is automated. You get an email when your bill is ready then you log into your account to enter meter readings, pay your bill or set up a monthly direct debit. The special offer lasts for 12 months from the date you sign up, at which point you’ll switch over to the E.ON EnergyOnline Plan.
With the standard energy product known as EnergyPlan you can earn Tesco Clubcard points every time you pay your bill and you can save money if you arrange to pay by fixed monthly Direct Debit. They also offer a range of rewards when you switch from another plan or supplier. And if you’re an older customer with access to the internet, you could save even more with their Age UK Online tariff, which offers an 8% discount off all your bills when you pay by monthly Direct Debit, with a further 2% off if you manage your account online.
If you’re the kind of person who likes to know what your costs will be every month, they offer a Fixed Price tariff, known as E.ON Fixed Price 5. This sets the price you’ll pay for your energy at a fixed price until July 2013.
E.ON also provides an installation and maintenance service for central heating boilers and will provide a bespoke package that suits your particular home. Their care package includes 365 day breakdown repair and appointments to suit you, including evening and weekend slots. The prices they offer are also very competitive in comparison to the equivalent service offered by British Gas.
One of the key things that sets E.ON Energy apart from its competitors is the company’s nationwide Energy Fit campaign, which they have invested heavily in over the last few years. The aim of this initiative is to educate people about how small changes can make a big difference to our energy consumption, and by adopting a new attitude at home or in the office we can look forward to a greener, more energy efficient future. They provide expert advice on energy saving technology and tips and information on how our behaviour can impact hugely on our bills.
